Interesting experiment. I don't have the patience to muck around with expired film much less expired developers but it's great to see your thought process on what could work.
Tell you the truth my "scanning" setup is the biggest pain... I need to buy a proper film holder that I can setup and load film without having to get it parallel and focused correctly every frame...

I use a Nikon 5000 or 9000 depending on the film format. I've never actually tried camera scanning but I've seen folks get very good results with it.
I have an 8000ED but soooooooo slow to do a 36exp roll
